Matt and Megan are married!!! They celebrated their wedding day at the picturesque Journey Home near Kansas City, Missouri. The property featured a colonial farm house and historic barn. What made their day extra special was that the whole family could stay the night in the farm house. I love the idea behind friends and family being together as much as possible on a day as special as this.
Matt and Megan have been dear friends of our since we decided to start hosting a community group through our church. I’ll never forget when Megan ran into my house last June and asked me to be her wedding photographer. I was absolutely flattered at her insistence that she wanted me to do it!!
There are a few parts of this day that stand out to me the most. One was the wind! At first, I think everyone was a little concerned that the 40-mph wind gusts would rain on our day, but they ended up being our saving grace. There is nothing like a strong breeze to cool you off for an outdoor wedding in June. Plus, there is something about wind that creates a little bit of magic in the photos. You’ll see it in one of John’s shots from the ceremony below! He captured the bridesmaids perfectly in the breeze. Another thing that was special about this day was the venue. In all the weddings I have shot, I have yet to see a “getting ready room” like the one in the photos below. It was stunning and oh so fancy!
There were so many special moments in this day, but one more stands out to me. We were taking bride and groom portraits after the first look and we couldn’t stop commenting on how great Matt and Megan looked. There was a time where I literally put the camera down and just sighed at all the beauty in that moment. Just look at them! But it’s so much deeper than what we see here in the pictures. These two genuinely love each other and it is so evident in the way they look at each other. There is another shot that John captured down below where Matt has the biggest smile on his face as he looked at Megan getting her bridal portraits done. It’s so endearing!
We hope you’ll enjoy some of our favorites below as much as we have!
A big thank you to John Borel for second shooting with me and Heather Kolb for assisting. Plus we want to give a shout out to all the amazing vendors we had a chance to work with, you all were so fun!
