Five years ago, Natalie changed my life. She was sitting across from me, behind her desk, interviewing me to potentially be the art teacher at her school. It may have just been another interview for her, but for me it was the culmination of six years of education coming to one moment where I was very much wanting to turn that knowledge into a career. The thing was, we laughed a lot during the interview. It was more like I was sharing my passion with a friend than in an intimidating environment. Thankfully, she saw something in me and offered me the job. So for the past five years she has seen me help students make everything from collages to clay and more. However, she has yet to really see me make my own art, the kind that really releases my own creative energy. Luckily, she won herself a Jenny B. Photography gift card during a United Way auction earlier this school year. She decided the perfect way to use it was to celebrate her and her husband’s two year anniversary. It was fun for me to be able to hang out with both of them outside of the school setting. It was also great to see just how in love these two are. I wish you both many more years of happiness together!
