YNP TOURIST DAY
Camping causes interesting living situations. You only get to choose who is in your tent not the people who get the campsite next to yours. I forgot this fact until 2am when our neighbors showed up and starting setting up camp using their “outdoor voices”. Always remember earplugs when camping. It all ended up working out, especially when we woke up the next morning and started to explore Yellowstone.
Day four was our planned “tourist attraction day”. We hit the Geyser Basins, Old Faithful, The Grand Prismatic Spring and more. Once we hit mile 11 and had seen at least 10,000 tourists, we were weary but decided to make one last stop at some roadside cascades.
Turns out there was the perfect trail to try out which then led to some back-country hiking. The boys were happy, Jami was content, and I was on “Bear Watch 2015”. I’ll gladly accept the fact that I held the scaredy-cat card, but can you really blame me after I was shown videos like this right before our trip? (FYI…I found out later the video was fake) The point of holding the scaredy-cat card is that I faced my fear each time and conquered it. Plus I am pretty sure my intermittent clapping saved us from at least a bear or two.
Day four was topped off with a real shower and root beer. What more could anyone want?
What’s that? Oh you want to know more about the bears. Stick around for day 5 because that’s when this adventure gets a little hairy. Literally.
