Summer 2016 is all about vacations on a whim. Six months ago John and I were planning an adventure trip to Europe, but with all the travel warnings that seemed to pop up every other day we postponed the adventure till later. Thus began the conversation of a beach vacation with John’s family. The two of us set off to plan the best vacation we could under the time constraints. By mid-March we had all but thrown in the beach towel and given up. Apparently, you can’t just wait until you are two months out from leaving on a trip to book a beach house. I was determined though to make this happen. Trying to coordinate 8 people’s schedules, finding a beach within driving range, and locating a house that was not only open but could squeeze us all in was a challenge. Not to mention it needed to be steps from the sand, affordable, and cute (the last being my wish). The list of requirements was stacking up. But then one late night in March I ran across a beautiful house online. I could hardly believe it met every single requirement and was available. By the next evening it was booked.
Eight weeks and 18 hours later we arrived in sun-soaked Holden Beach, NC. For the next seven days we tanned, played, swam, dug, celebrated, and most importantly relaxed. It was the perfect way to kick off summer break for the entire JB Club.
