It’s hard to believe that I am more than a decade removed from high school. Even harder to believe that I am still close friends with several girls from way back then. Those friendships don’t feel hard though. It’s simply incredible to think I have shared upwards of twenty-five years of my life with these women. From meeting each other in Kindergarten to graduation to college to marriages to babies. We’ve literally done life together. They are my people. So it’s only natural that when all of us turn thirty, we celebrate it together.
There’s Hannah. I’d call her the “Ring-Leader” of the group. Without her thoughtful planning this trip wouldn’t have happened and neither would the countless game nights that brought us together and kept us close even when faced with the distance of college. And Danielle. My first friend in Kindergarten and someone I value even more today. She is a risk-taker and makes me feel like I can do just about anything I set my mind to. And she makes me laugh…so hard my sides hurt. I can’t mention Dan with Colleen. These two together create the perfect combination of fun. Colleen’s waters run deep. Whenever I get to spend time with her alone I am always amazed at her confidence and humility. She’s a role model, even to this thirty-year old and I can’t help but love that about her. Amy is the embodiment of strength and courage. I don’t know many women who are as positive as she is no matter what life throws at her. Quite the quality to have. And sweet Shana who for all rights and purposes might as well have been with us all since Kindergarten. Her laughter and personality help complete this group of friendship. There are others too who couldn’t make it and they are just as much loved.
It was the perfect getaway and another special memory for all of us. Here’s to 30!
