In case you missed it, John and I made a big announcement last month. Our family is growing by one!
I plan to share more about the earlier stages of our pregnancy in the coming months, but for now I’ll share about the gender reveal party we hosted. I’ve never really been big into the idea of a gender reveal party, but when everyone else around you is excited about doing one, you tend to get on board quickly. I told John that I really wanted something low-key, so after a bit of searching we decided on a balloon pop. My sister did something similar when she was expecting, but instead of having everyone else pop a balloon, we decided to pop one really big balloon.
I got pretty teary-eyed at the sonogram because our baby looked so different than the first sonogram we had had. Truthfully, I bawled at our first sonogram because it was all so overwhelming. I realized quickly though the technician can’t do the sonogram when you’re taking huge breaths and sobbing. So I pulled myself together for this sonogram and tried to keep the tears to a minimum. When the technician told us we were having a girl, John and I were both shocked. We were so certain it was a boy and had even been calling our little nugget a “he” pretty much since the beginning. The news was definitely surprising, but we were both just thrilled that she was healthy and from the looks of it pretty happy in there.
She also seems pretty camera shy. Every time they went to snap of a photo of her face, she put both arms up and hid. Whenever she did let us see her face it was clear that she’s a cutie! Throughout the whole sonogram, I kept saying, “Isn’t she beautiful!” Clearly, we are already enamored.
After both doctor appointments, I stuffed our balloon full of yellow confetti. I know traditionally it is blue and pink, but we aren’t big on pink, so we went with yellow instead.
It was fun setting up for the party and soaking in the reality that there will now be two girls in the house. By the time everyone arrived, we were SO ready to share the news with them.
I am pretty sure almost everyone was shocked when yellow confetti went everywhere. Everyone except for Alba, my niece, who has been certain it was a girl from day one. Needless to say we are excited to meet this little one and so thankful that God has blessed us to be her parents.
Love the story! Love this new life!
